The RS Q8’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Purosangue doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Audi RS Q8 achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Ferrari Purosangue has not been tested.

The RS Q8 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The RS Q8 has standard Maneuver Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Purosangue doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The RS Q8 has Car-to-X Services, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the RS Q8 helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the RS Q8 and Purosangue have rear cross-traffic warning, but the RS Q8 has Automatic Brake Activation (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Purosangue’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the RS Q8 and the Purosangue have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Audi RS Q8 weighs 617 to 662 pounds more than the Ferrari Purosangue. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The RS Q8 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Purosangue’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The RS Q8’s corrosion warranty is 9 years longer than the Purosangue’s (12 vs. 3 years).

There are almost 7 times as many Audi dealers as there are Ferrari dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the RS Q8’s warranty.

The Purosangue’s redline is at 8250 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The RS Q8 has a 6800 RPM redline.

The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 99 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 528) than the Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12.

On the EPA test cycle the RS Q8 gets better fuel mileage than the Purosangue (14 city/20 hwy vs. 11 city/15 hwy).

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the RS Q8’s fuel efficiency. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the RS Q8 offers optional 23-inch wheels. The Purosangue’s largest wheels are only 22-inches in the front and 23-inches in the rear.

The front and rear suspension of the RS Q8 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Purosangue, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The RS Q8 has standard seating for 5 passengers; the Purosangue can only carry 4.

The RS Q8 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Purosangue (30.5 vs. 16.7 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the RS Q8’s liftgate can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The RS Q8 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The RS Q8’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Purosangue’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the RS Q8 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Purosangue doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the RS Q8 has a standard rear wiper. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The RS Q8 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Purosangue.

The Audi RS Q8 has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the overhead console. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Ferrari charges extra for Homelink® on the Purosangue.

The RS Q8’s optional Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist Plus will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Purosangue doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Audi Q8/SQ8/RS Q8 outsold the Ferrari Purosangue by almost 26 to one during 2024.
